I love the above statement! It gives me shivers when I consider where Universal Dead might go, which seems to be right into Day of the Dead territory.
Doug Jones has made his first appearance as the cuckolded and slightly unhinged Dr. Vataber, whose wife is now the subject of his experiments on the undead.
The other thing that I’m enjoying is the semantics surrounding the undead or the infected, as CDC representative Dr. Macavoy (Gary Graham) likes to call them. It reminds me of the arguments that first surrounded the AIDS epidemic (and yes, I’m old enough to actually remember that) and continues to swirl when discussing it’s cause.
The film is directed by Vernon Mortensen and written by Kelly Parks, both of whom have been in the military, as were most of the crew. Interesting, considering in these scenarios, the military is usually portrayed in a less than stellar light.
This is definitely one to watch.
Vernon Mortensen here, director of Universal Dead. Thanks for the coverage! Yeah, I’m a retired US Navy SWCC (pronounced “swick”) commando and the other producer, Neil Trusso is a former Navy SEAL and the writer, Kelly Parks is an Ex-CIA aerospace engineer. You got that right, Universal Dead will go into territory no other zombie movie has ever gone! And, the Navy SEALs in our story (played by four real US Navy SEALs) and the rest of the military personnel in our story are definitely going to be shown in a very different light from other zombie movies.
Again, thanks for the coverage,
Vernon….
*BLUSH*
Thanks Vernon! Keep me up to date as to what’s happening with Universal Dead.
I’m really enjoying it thus far!
For the record, I never referred to people with AIDS as “The Undead”.
Love the “all science is a subset of Physics” line (then again, physics was my undergrad major). I have some ideas as to what shooting his wife might do (and where the shots are being fired at) in terms of proving something about living/dead status, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the directors have planned.
Although I’m not a huge fan of the military in adventurous wars, I think it has a vital role in a crisis like this, and I’m looking forward to seeing what I hope will be a realistic and intelligent national response to a zombie crisis rather than a few survivors who seem to have survived mostly by dumb luck. Looking forward to seeing more of this point of view!
Is it going to be a web series or if someone funds it would it become a movie or TV series?
Craig
As far as I know, this is going to be a web series. Although Vernon might have other plans.
Vernon?
Well, does Craig have some money to put into the Universal Dead TV show? I’m open to any possibility. Also, for those of you who don’t know, Feo Amante is Universal Dead’s art director!
Universal Dead: Episode 3 is live;
